Flight Logistics

Quick flight-price question?
Why is a round-trip flight from Albany, NY to Allentown, PA (168 miles, average $600) twice the price of a round-trip flight from Albany, NY to Washington, DC ( 311 miles, average $300)? I’ve flown once in my life before and I’m not used to flight Logistics, but this makes absolutely no sense to me.
A quick answer would be supply and demand. There isn’t nearly the demand for travel to places like Allentown than there is to a place like Washington DC, and probably very little competition on that route.
